When Matron of Style introduced herself and her vision to photographers Lin & Jirsa, they responded with not only one bride to feature, but TWO! This month, the collaboration continues with Mai & Nham who tied the knot earlier this year in January of 2016.
The first time I connected with Mai, she exuded so much love and pride for our heritage. It meant so much to her to incorporate Vietnamese culture into her big day emphasizing that, “as a Vietnamese-American, it was really important to me to honor my heritage by wearing an ao dai for my wedding.”
While planning her Don Dau ceremony, she allowed Mama Nguyen free rein of her ao dai. Yes, you read that right. Mama Nguyen conceptualized every detail of Mai’s ao dai. Mai’s only contribution were her measurements and fittings. The final result? An on-trend, red—of course Mama Nguyen went traditional—beaded, lace and illusion ao dai custom made at Thanh Thuy Tailoring.
Together with their families, Mai & Nham kicked off their day of celebration surrounded by the most important people in their lives.
Following the Don Dau ceremony, Mai still had three wardrobe changes to go!
Oh you know, just a teaser. But do you spy the beautiful silver ao dai? Three words: Thai Nguyen Atelier. Tune in tomorrow to get the scoop. Can’t wait to serve you up some fashion honey…Yyyaaassss!
