A beautiful thing about cultural wedding traditions is that its elements hardly change over time. Rather, traditions remain true and close to the hearts of its people. Allow me to introduce to you, Vi & Larry, married in July of 2013. Two and a half years later, their Đón Dâu ceremony is still as relevant and beautiful as the day it took place!
From the Bride: We planned our wedding in eight months! Come the day of, we had a timeline that started with hair & make-up at 2:30 AM! I wanted everything to be timeless. I wanted to be able to look back with a sense that it all could have taken place just a short time ago.
Vi & Larry opted to not have a Lễ Hỏi and instead combined the traditional ceremonies with the wedding day. Together with his parents, Larry preps the mâm quả then travels from Downey, CA to Fountain Valley, CA to meet Vi and her family.

Once Vi received well wishes from her family, both families traveled back to Downey so that she could be presented to Larry’s family as his new wife. But wait…first a wardrobe change! Vi did a quick change into a white beaded ao dai and let her hair down.
Whew! Two wardrobe changes in just the first few hours of Vi & Larry’s beautiful day! Part two of the post coming Wedding Wednesday when Matron of Style gets up close with Vi’s personal style!
