I can’t help myself with these back to back fashion week posts, but this one, I’m uber proud of! Last Friday, May 6th, Matron of Style had the honor of covering Viet Fashion Week’s press preview day and dahling, it was smashing! International Vietnamese designers showing at this year’s event gave us a preview of one to two looks from their upcoming collection.
Designer looks from left to right: Christy Pham, Cynthia Bui, Quynh Paris, Jacky Tai, Son Collection, Yvon Nguyen, Jacky Tai and Calvin Hiep.
Of course Matron of Style ogled over the ao dai’s from Cynthia, Christy & Calvin.
CYNTHIA BUI COLLECTION fuses the traditional ao dai silhouette with a contemporary textile and removable cape. Bring on the drama!

CHRISTY PHAM & COMPANY mixes airy textures and brings focus to the bodice with a crystal embellished design:

HYP DESIGN challenges the traditional silhouette using a metallic fabric channeling a futuristic, avant -garde ao dai.

Viet Fashion Week 2016 is not all traditional ao dai’s though. They aim to showcase a broad spectrum of talent. In the mix will be designers showcasing ready-to-wear, couture, evening and bridal.
YVON LUX focuses on women’s petite “proFASHIONal” career and occasion. Her press preview look definitely leaned occasion.

QUYNH PARIS

SON COLLECTION hails from the motherland and is recognized throughout. He is known for ornate gowns and ao dai’s, but on press day, it was all about the gown.
More of Son Collection can be viewed here.
JACKY TAI showcased two looks on press day, but the gown won in my book.
I mean, c’mon! Obsessed much? Yes!
